LIZ MILLER

Liz Miller, director and producer is a documentary maker, trans-media artist, and professor interested in new approaches to community collaborations and documentary as a way to connect personal stories to larger social concerns. Her films and transmedia projects offer new and critical perspectives on gender, the environment, human rights, social movements and media. Liz teaches media production in Communications Studies at Concordia University in Montreal and is an active member of the International Association of Women in Radio and Television. Her films/educational campaigns on timely issues such as water privatization and immigration have won awards and been integrated into educational curricula and influenced decision makers.

DEB VANSLET

 

Deb VanSlet is a Montreal Videographer and artist who has been producing videos since 1990. She shoots, directs and edits videos for universities, non-profit organizations, community groups, artist -run centers, art galleries and documentaries. She is the director of cinematography for The Shore Line.

NICOLE ROBICHEAU

Nicole Robicheau, lead researcher for the Shore Line, has a MA in Media Studies at Concordia University. She completed her Bachelor of Journalism at Ryerson University in Toronto and has worked for the CBC and The Red Cross.  Her other interests include the preservation of languages and culture and she is working on a project about her grandmother and Acadian words. She’s looking at how to preserve the meanings of words that are being lost in the Acadian dialect spoken in the community she grew up in Nova Scotia. She’s also worked in both Zambia and Sierra Leone training journalists on reporting more effectively on human rights issues.

JULIA NADEAU

Julia, project researcher for the Shore Line project, is a writer, documentary researcher and campaigner living in Montreal. Her time is most often spent discussing and organizing around feminist issues. She is a board member at The Centre for Gender Advocacy, an organization that promotes gender empowerment and equality. In the past, she worked for Democracy Now! in their social media and online outreach department. 

 

STEFANIE BROOS

Stefanie Broos is the youth outreach and pedagogy coordinator for the Shore Line project.  She was a staff writer as well as a news editor for The Plant, Canada’s largest CEGEP newspaper. She is currently working towards a Specialization in Communication Studies at Concordia University. She has worked as a production assistant on several short films in the Montreal area. Serving as the Internal Executive for Concordia’s Model United Nations team, Stefanie has participated in conferences in Montreal, Ottawa and New York City, debating issues of climate change and the effect that this has on the world.

 

 

Alison is a filmmaker, animator and visual artist who has grew up on the Jersey Shore. She studied Illustration at Rhode Island School of Design and is completing her Masters at Concordia University. Her mother and creative collaborator Cindy is a researcher and writer.

 

 

ALISON NATURALE

 

WIDED HAKIMI

Wided is a digital consultant and translater for the Shore Line project. She is a documentary cinematographer and digital designer based in France. She studied communication and media systems at Rouen, and is familiar with the location where Joan of Arc died. She is currently finishing her Master degree in documentary cinema. The last film she worked on The Little University Soldiers follows five students as they defend their right to have a seat in university congress at Aix Marseilles University.
